On we go .....
Re: On we go .....
Every school is in the same boat with wrestling attendance. Oklahoma St. is lucky to get a few thousand with hardly any students. Iowa and PSU attendance is strong but 95% are older townies.
Let's face it wrestling is boring.
Students like drinking and staring at their phones.

Re: On we go .....
Boring mostly due to stalemates caused by the leg pass.
Re: On we go .....
No, it's always been boring. What makes it interesting are the storylines that develop over many years that only older fans can understand.

Prior to girls, TV, at least in the Dorms, was B+W, one per building. No personal TVs.
Also, home wrestling and home football closed all other activates. I suppose you could go the Library, or the snack bar in the UC. But, for example, Taylor Gym was closed. - Contrast that with BktB. The Thornburg crew regularly went down to Taylor then would try to catch the second half of the BkrB game. (and yes, the opposing team was subject to our harangues,)

I blame ESPN and social media more than anything. Why watch an entire sports event when the highlights for all major sports are broadcast 24/7?
Monday Night Football was a huge breakthrough by showing -- just 10-20 sec for each game -- that weekend's NFL highlights. Yes, a breakthrough, laughable or not, by comparison to today.
The bottom line isn't laughable: the Sixties were a very long time ago.

I turned 21 minutes after the FIRST Monday Night Game. Obviously hearing Howard Cossell and Dandy Don, we all needed alcohol.
Re: On we go .....
Then there was the Cleveland game when the Browns had a player on their roster named Fair Hooker, which opened the door for Meredith to chirp: "Fair Hooker...I've never met one."
