Re: U.S. Senior Open
Wood goes down to Waltz 5-0......Caden Rogers beats Kolby Franklin (PA/Iowa commit) in an endurance test 11-6, which puts Rogers into semi's......
Brignola and Bailey both won a couple before losing on championship side......
Feldman makes very short work of the kid who beat Taylor 10-0 in 1:16

Re: U.S. Senior Open
Kimo Leia goes 2-2 at 65.
Re: U.S. Senior Open
Rogers having a nice tournament. Lost in the semi's but then teched an Indiana state champion going to Northwestern and will have a rematch with Franklin for third.
To get to the third place bout Franklin beat Cosgrove (5-1) who, if I remember right, is going to Penn and was the #1 ranked 220 - ahead of the kid from Bergen Catholic who decommitted from LU - in NJ.

Jordan won his 7th place bout... by beating the first guy he wrestled (wbd 10-2 back in the rnd of16), Sam Schuyler, NY... 8-1 the final score.

Sir, a pint of you finest ale, please!
Never argue with an idiot... he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Re: U.S. Senior Open
Rogers had the more stylish singlet but lost 0-4 for 4th. Bailey took 8th.
Re: U.S. Senior Open
Very few Lehigh guys have ever been competitive at freestyle.
Re: U.S. Senior Open
>>>> A misleading statement for a couple of reasons: 1- to really be competitive in freestyle you need to be really competitive at the NCAA -- top 3. 2-not everyone is interested in pursuing freestyle because their interest after graduation is to find gainful employment not coach and continue to compete.
Re: U.S. Senior Open
Some fairly glib commentary on the Open, while my writing hand is exhausted recording all the scoring by our HS and LU guys.
Where's the love for Carter Bailey still growing into 134 but winning bouts by 14-14; 14-10; 10-0; 12-2; 14-4 with one 13-12 loss to the 6th place guy?
Our notorius Max "I don't need no stinkin' high HS medals" Brignola beat Mike Sheets 2nd son; lost to 3rd pl and got hosed 5-3 to Oklahoma freshman Alejandro Herrera Rendon, I-Mat #25 sr; PA 1,1,4,1 (175-14). I'm checking with my freestyle advisor, Z.Rey, after a 2-pt LU tilt was lost in the brick masonry. Also, after taking AHR down to the mat -- and still on top -- OU got 1 pt.
I note Rogers halted Franklin's highly publicized bid for his first major win, widely covered in Iowa City where the kid moved last Dec to graduate from Iowa City HS. PA 2 (fr); NPrep 2; Ironman 2,2; Nickname oughta be "the Bridesmaid" but also a 2x PowerAde 1st. All the results with some color in the Ann Recruiting Issue later in May.
