Darian at Pan Am games

Just saw Darian wrestle a nice match on Mat A, taking out the 3 seed, 7-1. Wrestling for Puerto Rico at 57 Kg.

Easy quarterfinal win for Darian over Guatemala with a tech in the first period. Not sure if he will meet Gilman on his side of the bracket.

Darian gets the silver at the Pan Ams... lbtf 11-0 to Gilman.
(Nice try but, will DC ever score a point against Gilman ever? The now Nit WC member just seem to overwhelm his opponents. :| )

>>>>>>> Gilman's loss in the Olympics was actually when he turned the corner. Next stop World champ. Like Yogi said "90% of it is half mental."

So losing to the reigning World title holder, by any score, is what it is. Taking home a Pan Am silver medal is quite an accomplishment.

W/ the likes of Gilman, I wont disagree here... DC earned his Pan Am silver today. 8-)

Darian losing to Gilman at 57kg (likely 60+kg) is like Bobby Weaver Losing to Gene Mills at 118 (probably 130+) in 81 EIWA.

Lizak weighed 138 lbs when he lost to Darian in the 2018 national finals.

which continues to prove how big an upset it was to beat Gillie in the ncaa semis, especially that dominant senior season; and how well coached those bouts were. Gilman's bonus win rate was off the charts as a senior (90%?), giving 'end zone dance celebration' quotes after some bouts; in his dual vs Lizak, Gilman got down 8-0 in 1st pd then just crushed him after that, WBF. I attended Darian's 8-0 Scuffle loss to Lizak and confess my pessimism about beating either, let alone both. Good thing I had no role and kept my mouth shut.

In one way, it reminds me of The Miracle On Ice. The match/game everyone remembers is the semi-final!
