2022-23 Recruiting

Post by jdalu75 » Mon May 16, 2022 6:48 pm

Flo released its final 2022 Big Board earlier today, the Top 100 overall recruits.

Lehigh has two on the list -- Ryan Crookham at #11 and Kelvin Griffin at #94.

Ohio State landed #1, #2, and #4.

Other EIWA recruits in the top 100 --

#22 Danny Wask, Navy
#37 Ty Whalen, Princeton
#39 Martin Cosgrove, Penn
#54 Kole Mulhauser, Princeton
#58 Richard Fedalen, Columbia
#60 Jack Wehmeyer, Columbia
#65 Erik Gibson, Cornell
#66 Jonathan Ley, Navy
#67 Andrew Troczynski, Penn
#71 Evan Tallmadge, Navy
#77 Braden Basile, Army
#78 Nick Vafiadis, Navy
#80 Jude Swisher, Penn
#85 Jack Crook, Harvard
#90 Brennen Cernus, Navy
#91 Antwaun Burns, Brown
#100 Evan Mougalian, Penn

Navy has five Top 100 recruits, which has to be their best year in decades. Penn has four, proving that Tha Rajah still knows how to recruit. No other EIWA team has more than two; Lehigh's Crookham is the top individual recruit.

Pretty impressive for Navy. One wouldn't think the service academies would have the flexibility of other schools to relax their admission standards for athletes but .......

Yeah, but I would think that 4 tough years in a service academy plus the commitment after graduation would appeal to a fairly small group.

Cornell appears to have had an off year by their standards. The EIWA may be turning into a real dogfight over the next few years.

Not all wrestlers need to have relaxed admission standards to enroll.

They didn't need to have any big recruits this year, as they have nearly all underclassmen right now, and Cornella should start as a freshman at 141 this coming year. Class of 2023 for Cornell includes:

#3 Meyer Shapiro
#28 Michael Dellagatta
#46 Simon Ruiz
