Well, well, well .......

Just 60 days ago the Lehigh forum was rife with discontent and frustration; not all justified but nonetheless.

Today, there is an optimism that has invigorated even the most strident and skeptical.
* Nice recruiting class entering in the fall lead by top 5 over-all Ryan Crookham
* AA Michael Beard transfers in from rival Penn State
* Rumors of weigh realignments that will maximize the current talent
* Early c/o 2023 signings of 6 NJ recruits

Have a great weekend!

Adding Beard was a much needed talent infusion for Lehigh's upper weights and potentially is a program game-changer. Note that he's almost exclusively working out with Wood and Rey.

Is that intended as a hint that he may be deciding to move to 285 lbs? Have no idea of his off-season weight and if that is even a remote possibility, but it seems as though that may be what you are implying.

No, he's wrestling 197 lbs. Workout partners are important and he's enjoying wrestling with two of the best in Jordan and Zach.

Two great partners in the world of big men. 197 is a pretty different world but to learn from those 2 guys as good or better than anyone PSU has in the room.

Huh, Max Dean not good training partner?

I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that Wood and Rey are better than what Penn State has.

Doesn't Penn State return the reigning NCAA Champion at 174#, 184#, 197# and #4 (after defaulting to Wood) at HWT. Max Dean is likely the reason Beard is at Lehigh. Add in the availability of the Nittany Lion WC with a host of super blue chip wrestlers, including Kyle Snyder I believe and a head coach that is arguably the best wrestler ever in the US.

I think rolling around with Wood and Rey may pale in comparison.

However, I'm actually looking forward to seeing what Beard brings to Lehigh after working with that crew. Hopefully it includes a chip on his shoulder.

I must say that this is right on target. It is the way I was thinking. Beard is here because of Dean and we got a great wrestler. Crookham and Beard might be the spark that maximizes the potential we already had as a team. Thanks for this.

Let's not forget the other new gorilla in the Room, Gaige Garcia, who's been rolling around for several wks now, too. Up a few lbs after all the rehab; rumored around 220+. So the answer to "maybe 184" is an emphatic "no." A likely alternate hwt and perhaps 197.
