Could you cite where in the NCAA rules it says this. I know in sports like football, basketball, and soccer that schools can and do have multiple announcements. I have never checked specifically on wrestling but it would surprise me if there is a separate rule on announcements for one specific sport.
I don't have the manual with me (I might have it in my cloud but don't feel like searching) but it always was like that years ago. I thought they made a slight alteration a few years back where you could only make one announcement per recruit but could break up the announcements. I believe Lehigh seems to be holding but other schools seem to be doing the other. Not 100% on this.

Fwiw, I confirmed there is nothing in the NCAA bylaws about how many press releases a school can have for a given class - or how often one player can show up in a press release. It's easy to find D1 schools that have had multiple press releases for a given class - and ones that have mentioned a given player multiple times in their releases.

Doesn't matter if it's an NCAA by-law or an NWCA agreement but it's been agreed for a very long time. Bison must be a private investigator; I sure haven't found any official school releases that repeatedly mention an individual signing

Keep in mind all the social media releases like HawkNation - or LUWrestlingNews - which are not official university SID releases, therefore not bound by this agreement. So Lehigh's SID official release on recruits will wait until early June, courtesy of Mike Beard's late transfer. His last finals were taken not long ago; no release until fully processed

While LUWN has individually ID's each recruit 1 or more at a time, our one summary on all recruits will wait until Lehigh gets 'first' rights on its all-in-one release. Fun & games but it's professional courtesy.

Inside of five minutes I found two press releases in a given year for a given class - issued by the school itself. Also confirmed there is no NCAA rule about this and that at least some SID's have never heard of it.

Looked at another way, why would sports such as football, basketball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, etc all allow multiple press releases on recruits - but wrestling alone would not?

I knew something had changed some years back. In looking up an older manual (8 years ago) I saw a new "rule" saying there were now no rules about it. I know it was new because it was shaded. It could be that the original 1 per year ended around 97. I see several other changes dated starting in 04. I only have printed or pdf versions so it's not like Wikipedia where you could look up changes historically.
