Halftime

Is there any good reason why halftime at home duals can't feature exhibition bouts between highly ranked high school wrestlers from the area? Much better than the inane musical inflatable chairs feature of late and might well boost attendance and provide favorable exposure of the program to local talent.

I'd have to ask but that might qualify as an All-Star match which is frowned upon by the state associations in addition to the NCAA (not so much because of it being All-Star as it would be a recruiting contact.

The musical chairs thing just has to go. Maybe we could borrow that twerking hologram from the VMA awards the other night. Liven the place up a bit.

Here's another idea:

Form two teams of guys on the team who are healthy but not in the starting line-up, equalize the weights of the two teams, and have a tug o war.

The participants could be introduced - nice to give them some exposure before the home crowd - and they could do some posturing and flexing - de regueur these days -so as to fill more time.

You could, likely not use HS or JrHi wrestlers.

But you could use elementary age kids, say 5th 6th graders., Maybe a boys match and a girls match.

Back in the not-so-distant past, there was no intermission. Then the WLVR TV crew said they needed an intermission to fiddle with their equipment or some such thing. So ever since the intermission has been a thing and now most use it to take a piss or grab a hot dog. I don't think anyone would miss it if duals just kept rolling and the intermission was eliminated.

I can hold it and the hot dogs suck.

You wanted a suggestion for "halftime" competition (I don't see the point of halftime either). Since you seem to not recall that like 30+ years ago the PIAA (and the NCAA?) put the kibosh on using HS athletes, I pointed out that BBall and Hockey use elementary kids for halftime competition frequently (but I believe they have longer breaks)

I believe 8th grade yes, 9th grade no.
