Ok, I now see I focused more on legger wanting a "boatload" of muscle on Hines for him to do well at 141.
As always in yacht prestige, that depends on the size of the boat.

I had forgotten the inestimable mountain hawk's expertise:
Three things MH doesn’t think will work out well are:
1) Lane at 125
2) McGonagle at 133
3) Hines at 141
Ok the fourth thing would be this board accepting this post as fact

...1.) It's true Lane had leaned toward 33 this yr but he's 45-20 career, W 9-5 vs NCAA 8 Kaylor; W 13-12 barn burner vs #13 seed Cronin, NE. Word is: looking amazing this summer as 1 of FOUR very solid options at 125 (huh? who dat? dat's incredible; ask psu)
...2.) "The board" felt Connor was too small for 141; might as well assume 133 will benefit 1 of the better recruits from back in his day
...3.) Not much more to add - except muscle already in the works; anyone ever add up all the guys who improved moving up? At least 8 of our 20 best-ever did. Taking in more fuel often a plus
...4.) Right or wrong, fans from afar can't claim facts; mookie's closest to campus (on it?) but much closer to keyboard

... Huh? Who you callin' old guard? Oracle & I disagree plenty. And you once emailed me to pray for you in the hospital
You have me confused w someone else.
Lane was ineffective at 125 in the end seemingly due to weight/injury concerns.
If Crookham goes 33 then so be it either way McGonagle has exactly 1 top 20 win in his career (OreSt maybe? #19 or so) and many many 1-2 point matches with guys ranked well below him. We have better options. Plain and simple point of view that there’s a better option here.
Maybe Hines has grown into 41 but he lacked 33 horsepower last in my view so I’ll have to see it to believe it.

You tend to be a massive homer when it comes to predictions. That’s ok. Some of us make predictions based on the analysis of empirical data and a non-biased projections of a realistic set of outcomes.
Tell me all about Lane’s and McGonagle’s resumes again? I saw Hines against Pitt last year and big respect because he’s got mad skills but 141 seems a reach. Call that a prediction based on experience. Bookmark this if you want. I will.

Agree with MountainHawk that Lane struggled at end of season but thought that was injury vs weight cutting?

McGonagle observations are completely accurate & 133 is his only hope it would appear.

Presumably Hines is going up because of Crookham who is apparently the real deal & can make 133.

Hopefully as DRD implied Hines is hitting the weight room as well to that he grows into a legitimate 141.

All the above bodes well for a great start to every dual for us this year. Hopefully McGonagle pushes Crookham for the spot at 133 so that we have great backup options in case of sickness or injuries.

... I'll point out that my son will swamp the field in 9 days to win the GOP nomination for Gov of Massachusetts. Yes, a tough state for Republicans (Geoff, LU '92, lost to Liz for U.S. Senate), the odds for GOP governors aren't too bad, if you research just one Democratic Gov in the last six (2 in ...

So now it’s down to semantics.

We all know what a tremendous “athletic supporter” you are.

Schedule is out. https://lehighsports.com/news/2022/9/21 ... edule.aspx

A reversal from prior years - no Journeymen individual event (round robin) but a Journeymen dual instead.

Per LVL the reason the OrSU dual is at Stabler is because their would be a conflict with women's V-Ball in grace.

So the possibility of more conflicts would be a good reason for adding a Men's V-ball team. It is also the only full PIAA sport (except cheer) that LU does not field.

whiz wit: DRD wrote in part,
"The coaches only tend to suit up fr/fr when they believe they have a shot at medaling, so be sure to work your logic around the 133 lb gorilla in the room."

whiz's wizard humor: >>Medal where? NCAAs? EIWAs? Cheesteak Open?
In any event, I strongly disagree with that policy. Many years ago I posited that the best kid at a weight should wrestle - even a true frosh. I got a contrary view from one board regular who thought that being "slightly better" is insufficient. My rejoinder was ...

.... largely irrelevant since coaches are the equivalent of PhD's in wrestling vs. your HS background in the sport, at best. Probably 80% of coaches r/s their freshmen approx 80% of the time in Yr 1, a kind of "80/80" rule vs 80/20. The simple logic is not using up Yr 1 learning how to get better. If that logic somehow evaporates, I'm sure coaches will be happy to take your calls. :D
