Interesting, we only dropped 5 places from 13 to 18 while falling to a record of 3-2 on the season getting drubbed by Pitt, while Maryland who is undefeated 4-0 beat Pitt the nite before only rates HM…..polls usually make somewhat more sense than that (although only slightly)…..i would term us overrated until we prove otherwise….we’ve beaten zero ranked teams (as of this poll) ….. Maryland is undefeated and has beaten a ranked team…. Makes zero sense

Meyer and Logan have dropped out of rankings all together, now that unfortunately makes sense…..

You're absolutely right that the NWCA poll often lacks sense - I make a living pointing out some of the illogic
The issue is 12 coaches (2/conf) who often look after their in-conference friends by boosting their rtgs

NW ranks #14 after having just 1 dual (unranked UVA) dual before 1/6 - infinitely easier than our sched

then there’s NDSt & Nebraska fighting for 18th last wk after NDS beat UN,
Now somehow battling for 15th now? NDS other win vs SUNY .... and Huskers only win = Army! Our W's obviously better than Nebraska's

Reason for NW and NE rankings - because of their pre-season rtgs - never mind NE 1-2 incl. a loss to NDS which wasn't Top 25 before the weird vs Neb in Lincoln

Sez here Pitt & Lehigh could have been fighting for 14th-16th - we've lost only to OkSt, Pitt. No ranked W's after 3 straight polls ranked Oreg St; they got bumped by 1 pt to SDakotaSt - after SDS (1-0) beat Augustana (seriously)

but we’re used to deferring B1G schools. Yep, Maryland would have liked some of that favoritism for beating Pitt that NDS got by beating Nebraska, but it was their 1st Top 25 win in 10 yrs - and that explains why these polls wind up as confusing as logical.

Just to add to traditional bias in coaches vote, why couldn't Maryland be higher than Cal Poly's #23 -- with the Mustang's sole dual this yr a win vs Cal Baptist? The Terps have "only" one ranked win but they're 4-0 incl a 37-0 win vs. ACC rival, Duke. Whatever, they got shorted for sure at #24

I have to be honest, i read very little of those two posts….. seemed like a lot of blah blah blah , justification and deflection from the point that WE are over rated and Maryland is under rated....

I'm not discounting or disrespecting your opinion, just don't believe you really gave one, you just tossed statistics out there about other schools and how they should expect better and so on hoping something would stick in some way to justify Lehigh being ranked over Maryland...... guess we'll have to agree to disagree........

The more data wrestlestat has the more valid the rankings look.
Just have to win head to head with a higher ranked and you should move up. This is where Maryland got screwed. On plus side, Maryland has a competitive team again after being in doldrums for a few years.

Intriguing match-up when EIWA title contender Penn invades the intimidating confines of Carver! :o
I believe the Quakers are much better than where they're ranked,.. but it's early. Especially like that kid at 149lbs., Doug Zapf, he's wrestled Humphreys tough the few times they've locked-up. However Iowa's closing three-some of Assad, Warner, and Cass appear too strong if Penn were to mount-a-charge!

Let me get this straight - I go out of my way to agree with you - and I cited specific wins & losses -- but you see fit to disagree with my 'opinions,' anyway.

Certainly more proof why we don't get along.
