Re: Mat Town Open - Nov 27th
They don’t list opens on their official schedule because “starters” don’t go, but they will be there…. Wondering when Crookham appears in something…..
In other words Lehigh guys will be there just not officially registered yet…..

and wondering the same! Would love to see Pat bring Crookham out of MOTH-BALLS so we can get a good look at the kid. Believe he gets up to FIVE duals as a starter with no effect on his RS status per new NCAA protocol.
Re: Mat Town Open - Nov 27th
Since MAT Town is not on the schedule. He can't use it as one of the five free belts. And redshirting frosh can't go to first semester opens. So if Crookham were to go at LHU, I think it might mean his shirt is pulled. I suppose he coild then be "injured" LU and Pat does not do "injured".
Re: Mat Town Open - Nov 27th
Good God. There are way too many confusing and conflicting rules vis a vis redshirting. Why does the NCAA have to make things so complicated.Richb-3 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:37 pm Since MAT Town is not on the schedule. He can't use it as one of the five free belts. Not sure where you got that. They do have to be concerned with keeping the total attacheds to <=6 on those days. IMO the NCAA should somehow have increased that number if frosh are involved.Richb-3 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:37 pm Since MAT Town is not on the schedule. I don't think the coaches are thinking of using them too much at these though. I think they want to save them for times the starter is out like they did with Reinsel (pronounced ren-sel btw).
Re: Mat Town Open - Nov 27th
Pretty sure I have seen no first semester opens for unattached redshirting Frosh.
So if the plan, the hope, for Crookham is to defer eligibility, I think he needs to wrestle attached(if he wrestles), and use it as one of his 5 free attached competitions
Still it seems, best to not waste the 5. I assume he can start entering opens unattached when fall semester's last finals are done.

I'd tell you what date Ryan told me for expected return date but some of you want me gone; so I am, effective today; hopefully a few months min
I had ZERO doubt the new fr 5-date would be a nightmare for fans and fan-tasy fans. Enjoy.

Probably for the same reason all around. Not because it's prohibited but because it's better for the kids and teams under the circumstances.
Reinsel was previously planning on going to the Hitchcock (Shorty not Alfred- who was only 5'7") until Malyke was out.
