I think Penn feels our pain concerning weak finishes to a dual…. Though for them it was just 2 weights not 5 who disappointed….they had Iowa on the ropes with two to go, let them get away with the win at 149 and then Artalona gets decked in a large upset, which makes the score end up looking like a dominant win for Iowa (which I guess it was in the end)…..

Old adaged: never puff up facing IA unless you're 1 of the bigger puff fish in the sea; never overlook any recruit (The Brignola Rule)

CADE SIEBRECHT, fr/fr,, Iowa 1,1 (126 as jr; 138 as sr; 5th at 113 as soph); 163-30 career; 3x conf 2nd

Those are pretty standard fare records and placings for a “good” recruit at a top school…. Nothing at all that would foreshadow him decking Artalona….. bad loss for Penn and for Artalona….

Thought Zapf would take out Murin also as Max has lost some crunch time matches in the past…..not this time

Probably not being fair to Penn comparing their ending to the Lehigh debacle…. But they were both disappointing finishes from veteran wrestlers (except Taylor, he was just disappointing, not a veteran)….

149: Zapf and Murin was a great bout. Murin got the OT TD.
157: Artalona headlocked Siebrecht onto his back and was within a whisker of pinning him but got rolled through and put on his back and pinned.
197: Urbas with choice takes top in period 2. He was down 8-0 and proceeded to put Warner on his back multiple times and almost pinned him. The period ended with him up 9-8. Warner then took him down and rode him in period 3 to win 10-9.

Penn came oh so close to winning the dual.

Penn has a very nice team.

Say what we want about us Lehigh fans over the years disliking Reina as a coach, he knows how to recruit top kids & build a program.

Penn really missed him during his sabbatical. Penn will be an EIWA force again for many years. We will need to step up our recruiting game targeting the top tier candidates with passion & a strong LVWC contingent of National Champs that McCoy is building.
