Lane & McGonagle looked injury free in their bouts. No injury timeouts...nothing.

Trainers working on Humphreys in the rib area and he was not the same when returning to finish the OSU bout. There was a moment in MBIV's match where you could see he tweaked his arm somehow but he finished the bout. Lots of times the adrenaline of a match will mask something you did and its much worse after than during.
If anyone questions the sheer brutality of this sport go back and watch the Humphreys/Scott match (or just about any of Hump's matches). One of the worst place's on earth to be is down position v Humphreys

With sophomore Connor McGonagle and senior Jaret Lane both banged up following Monday's duals, the Mountain Hawks had to forfeit 133.
Complainers lol…

When was the last time you read a “official” press release from a team that said and I quote “we chose to duck this match because it was in our wrestler’s best interests”
And when have you ever known Santoro to forfeit a bout just to "duck" a matchup??

There is no way to answer that question obviously, there is no statistical concrete evidence either way.

Also the landscape of decisions as to this have changed drastically in the last 2-3 years or so and many coaches are adjusting to that changing landscape..... I am not naive enough to believe everything any program puts out there in a press release, doesn't mean I don't like the coach or the program or quite honestly think it wasn't the right decision at the time.

Trying to remember, did Scott choose down when wrestling Humphreys? My recollection is he chose neutral but could be wrong......can't see a lot of wrestlers choosing down position against Humphreys anymore.....Scott is about as big and physical as a 157 can be and he was helpless under Humphreys for the most part......Wick chose top position in Cal Poly match....

I think Scott - who's a beast in his own right - went under. Matter of pride.

Scott did choose bottom....and I agree he did out of principle. He almost got away off the whistle but Humphreys out hustled him and stuck him for a 4 count. The bout was over right there. Humphreys rode him like a rented mule.

Scott looked bigger when they walked onto the mat, but Humphreys was so jacked from his 7 minutes, he was bigger to my eye as they left the mat. Scott looked like a 174 to me. He was a little taller than our guy. Scott has what we used to call that "beach look" back in the day. That's when a guy was ripped. Today, everyone is ripped so not as relevant. EX: Janiak had that 'beach look'

That’s right I remember the quick turn off the whistle now…. Pride will get you sometimes….McGonagle has shown quite the riding ability also this year at 133, though not as big a scorer from the position…

Proverbs 16:18-19 King James Version:
"Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall."

You see, they even discussed wrestling back then.
