><>>It is possible to both accept reality and not be happy about it

.... I'd love to agree with you, especially since you're using lower caps today.

.... But O's "this is Lehigh; no excuses" ... that's pretty funny, I guess rivals can have excuses

.... I remember Greg Strobel adopting his new marketing slogan in his 1st year in '95-96:

"Lehigh Wrestling: An Unfair Advantage" - he forgot that actually winning is what makes us special and I vividly recall him apologizing to the alumni at dinner after the finals of the awful 1999 Easterns at Army.

The finals where we finished w/no champs (4th behind Harv) and we went 0-for-8 in meeting our seeds.
Luckily we did rebuild, very lucky to land Trenge to start a brief flood in Lehigh Valley recruits.
We need more Mike Beards vs more Anthony Shaves (a good friend)

Whether someone had riding time is not indicative of being able to get out from bottom, but you could have figured that out yourself with a moment's thought. Here's some help: imagine a bout in which neither wrestler was able to get out from bottom. Another example: imagine a wrestler gets a first period takedown and accumulates riding time, and adds enough riding time in the second period to go over a minute, and gets ridden the entire third period.

“You can’t win if you can’t get out” is not a strategy, it’s a fundamental. Choosing is a strategy.

Sometimes strategy can win matches. And that’s not limited to one guy.

I’m not addressing whether guys can or cannot get out from underneath. I’m merely suggesting more thought be put into the choice. Seems like something that may impact matches without a lot of effort.

Wrestling a little smarter here and there can make a difference.

... And Watkins (battle of the subs!) came within 0:03 of winning on r.time which would have finished 4 bouts ea w/riding time vs Penn

We don't like the facts but we have no vote; you'll reply that you know that, but it doesn't matter what either 1 of us thinks. All just pissing and moaning vs accepting reality, which Meyer recently had to do.

>>>>>>>>> MH has nailed it. Denny: it's getting a little tiring having you jump in every time someone has an opinion and defending --- what exactly? Are you defending against forum posters having thoughts and expressing those thoughts? Sorry, but forums (fora, whatever) are here to stay and fans use them for a variety of reasons: support their team, criticize their team, or neither. As long as it's not a personal attack, I'm ok with it. Observing that being ridden out, choosing the wrong choice option, or whatever -- is not a personal attack. It's what fans talk about in the stands. Only here we can access one another without a lot of fuss. Give it a rest.

Oh, and we don't care what other teams issues are -- what does that have to do with Lehigh? You don't need to point out that someone else sucks at something as bad as we do -- what? that makes it ok?

>>>>>>>>>>looking at other teams can provide a worthwhile perspective.

A while back there was a negative post about recruiting with the focus on Lehigh needing to bring in transfers.

But a quick at virtually every other top program shows they all use transfers to augment recruiting.

OkieSt just picked up a mid-season Rutgers transfer.

The reason Beard transfered was because psu picked up Dean via transfer.

Some criticism is valid, some is just venting hot air, and some is just absurd.

All 100% true. The examples you used were not personal attacks.

.....but even hot air and the absurd don't necessitate incessant rebuttals.

My recollection on the post is that it was mentioned that our recent "recruits" are not fairing as well as our transfers........and that got immediately got spun in to an unbelievable slam and insult of our recruiting and dammit transfers are part of recruiting and on and on and on.....perfect example of a simple correct statement being turned into some kind of incredibly negative statement slam of the program, and off to the races the arguing went.....

>>>>>>A classic hot air criticism.

Irrational to complain about “ recruiting” while complimenting incoming transfers.

Transfers are recruits.
