There is a photo on the Lehigh wrestling website showing Michael Beard sprawling against Urbas. Beard is as big as Trenge was back in the day. IMO, Dean won't beat him ever again. Bonaccorsi is the guy to watch out for. Beard is slapped together and he moves really well from neutral -- a good combination to possess.

Intermat has Lehigh at #12 tournament strength based on McG #6, Humphreys #4 and Beard #3. That should quiet some of the complainers. Nationals have never been about team balance for Lehigh -- always about a few individuals -- and this year is no different. A few individuals can carry a team a long way at the NCAAs.

What may surprise some LU followers is something Tom Brands just said "We use the whole season." (among others things he said)

Hines is trending, so is Samuelson after a difficult start. 149 will have a decent entrant for the post season whoever it ends up being. We know 165 and 174 are not trending but 125 and 285 are really the unknowns. Either, both, or neither could end up making some noise. Getting everyone healthy (a common theme for almost every top program) is primary from here until the post season. Maybe the top programs will re-evaluate these meat grinder tournaments early in the season? They do expose wrestlers to top opponents and that's a good thing, but they also create injuries and that's not so good.

Seems to me that Logan has to shoot more. He can't ride and he's no ball of fire on the bottom. We're told he was a "takedown machine" in high school (which is maybe why he never had to learn to ride) but my impression is that he spends more time fending off shots than initiating them.

No question Beard is a horse as is Humphreys. Fingers crossed that both put it all together in March. McGonagle at #6 is a stretch.

Current rankings have Cornell with a #1 or #2 in the EIWA in every weight other than 157.

If so, their ranking is of minimal value as McGonagle’s at a lower weight this year.

I put more value on the coach’s poll witch has him comfortably in the top 10.

His success at 133 has been a real positive and I hope he comes back fully healthy and ready for the stretch run and year end tournaments.

This will be one of those years that Lehigh is a noticeably better tournament team than a dual team, assuming injuries are not a factor. NCAA's should be fun to watch. Instead of 8-10 qualifiers with 2 AA contenders, we may only have 6 qualifiers with 5 having at least a fighting chance to AA.

Seems to you? I think every single person on this forum would agree with you. I think the coaches would agree with you. I think even Logan would agree with you. Aside from being slightly undersized at 174, it seems to be a lack of confidence in his shot. Not sure why, because when he decides to be aggressive, he usually scores. Just isn't aggressive nearly enough.

Legitimate shot at 3 R12 and 2 All Americans. Believe McGonagle and Hines are more properly ranked in WrestleStat and do not even make QF round at NCAA and neither are finalist at EIWA.

ASU's Michael McGee is #4 so we'll see what McGonagle has to say. That is if he's wrestling which I sincerely doubt.
