EIWA NCAA Performance

Post by Oracle » Fri Mar 17, 2023 6:25 pm

The EIWA has 7 wrestlers into the semi finals in the first 7 weights -- a nice accomplishment....and another 7 in the blood round. So, 7 are guaranteed AAs and perhaps 50% make it through would mean 10 total AAs. About what was expected. Tough a$$ tournament.

As you have pointed out, Glory has ridden Lee like a rented mule the past 2 times they have met (like over 4 minutes combined).....so anything is possible. If it happens, Tom Brands will absolutely melt down right there on national TV.

In Vito's case, he has a reasonable shot to take out Fix, although it would shock a lot of people. Can you imagine Fix losing to RBY a third straight time a la Caruso/Fehrs? That was something I never thought we'd see again-- but we just may.

Fun times...exciting round coming up shortly.

Lee was spooked by Noto and he's wrestling with tremendous pressure. Fix is low-hanging fruit tonight.

Glory at 125, Vito at 133, Yianni at 149, Humph at 157, Monday at 165, Foca at 174. Who's the 7th? BTW, all six EIWA quarterfinalists won.

It's a mediocre year, especially considering 55 qualifiers. Last year the EIWA had 7 and 7. In 2019 and 2018 (the previous two "normal" years) we had 10 / 7 and 9 / 8. The rising power in the EIWA is Penn, which has gone home. I was hoping for better. It's all from Cornell, Lehigh, and Princeton. One R12 from Drexel, one from Harvard. Six of the 14 graduate.

Maybe all our semi-finalists will win titles and it'll seem like a good year.

Semis are essentially a PSU dual meet.

EIWA = 3 titles
Big 10 = 3
ACC = 2
Big 12 = 2

I’m sure Vito won OW.

Nice to see PSU lose 3 finals bouts & For EIWA to equal Big 10 for champs.

Could have had 4 if Josh had pulled out his match with O’Connor. Congrats to Josh for his comeback to 3rd Place.

Next Year Lehigh with Top 10 finish & 1 champ!!!
