Imagine if McGonagle were seeded properly at Easterns. Does anyone else think he should have been seeded higher?

Wrestlestat algorithm by year end was quite accurate for NCAA placewinner

As of now, not a team full of thoroughbreds. Unless a true freshman dominates or a grad transfer arrives, there will be lots of holes in lineup again.
125-157 Will shake it out. Somebody is moving up in weightclass. Shot at 2 R12. Not leaning Humphreys get another year.
165-285 Very weak except for Heaviers. Shot at 2 R12

2024 preview Highest Ranked Lehigh wrestler
125 #28
133 #16
141 #10
149 #31
157 #120
165 #65
174 #49
184 #58
197 #5 PROJECTS ALL-AMERICAN. Faded in 2023.
285 #12

Project 3 R12 and 1 All-American. If OK is OK, then this will be just an OK team. Not really the LEHIGH tradition, but if acceptable, then so be it.

As someone put it, you cannot keep coming to a gun fight with a knife. Cornell getting the horses and they are producing. We are getting State Champs and not producing. Something is amiss, which typically means shake up the room with a new assistant coach or volunteer athlete/coach. These men are not being pushed to the level that will elevate them to Top 20 NCAA wrestlers. Most of these guys will be 4th/5th year wrestlers who will get handled in competition by some true freshman and red-shirt freshmen when they get out into tournaments.

Pat once again produced 1 All-American. It is small win, but Lehigh needs bigger accomplishments.

>>>>>>>>>We all have opinions on seeding.

14 D-1 coaches representing every conference saw fit to rank McG #5 in the nation——thus supporting my opinion.

mookster and other posters, blindly disregard knowledgeable professionals and throw shade on McG.

spladie, mooskster and others will next defend the indefensible EIWA seeding of Yianni, Glory and Humphreys 2nd.

Having an opinion is not necessarily “throwing shade.” I laid out my reasoning for my opinion on McGonagle. We’ll never know what might have happened had he not been injured. One thing I do know: the injury had zero to do with seeding.

When in doubt, throw the babies out with the bath water.

Denny: what do you mean? Kind of a non sequitur.

You really are a one trick pony aren’t you? That’s ok, stay with what you think you know…. Ya know, in other words just kerp repeating that same one thing….eventually you may convince somebody how right you are…..

The funny thing about that whole write up about top 20 this and top 30 that is that a lot of those guys theoretically won’t even be at the same weights next year….. so if a guy is barely top 30 at one weight why would you assume he will still be when he moves up a weight? The whole write up was so full of holes was like swiss cheese for the mind, here’s a better one:

is Mcgonagle as good if he has to wrestle 141? Doubtful…. Is Hines as good if he has to wrestle 149? Doubtful….. How about Brignola if he has to go 157? Doubtful…….We have a lot of 125’s but are any top 15 or better type guys? As of now they all look between top 15 to top 33…..is Bryant suddenly going to become a more disciplined wrestler in his “4th year” in the room? Doubtful….who fills 165 and 174? We wrestled the best guys we had this year and no one was redshirting that could jump in and do better (or they would have), it sure wasn’t good enough…..that leaves 184 where we are counting on a true freshman who hasn’t wrestled for 2 years coming off a major injury….. 197 where it seems we have a stud who needs to get over anxiety issues in big matches and a 285 who has shown improvement and hopefully at some point can become a consistent top 15 type wrestler…..

All those doubtfuls could swing the other way, but what result is more likely?

Now that’s an honest assessment of the team……
