Nahshon Garrett

Nahshon trounced both DeSanto and Fix to advance to Final X against Vito Arujau in an all-Cornell affair.

NG looked as good as he ever has IMO. DeSanto had no answers and was teched. Fix was more competitive but the outcome was never in doubt….a gratuitous 4 was awarded at the buzzer to make the final score 12-4.

This is awesome!! Hope he brings back a win!!!

He seems focused & happy in his new setting on South mountain. Hopefully his success spills over for Crookham, McGonagle & Hines for next season.

Agree with both of the previous two posts. Nahshon looked amazing, and he could really help Crookham, McGonagle and Hines. Maybe he already has. Hope he doesn’t get poached by some other RTC. It was also good to see Kerry and Zach in his corner.

I like his chances against Arujau if he wrestles that well for his encore. I think he at least matches Arujau's quickness and athleticism while being stronger than his opponent.

Garrett equally dominated everyone at the US Open last month, not giving up a single point...except for losing to Arujau 9-2. The version of Arujau who beat Garrett, RBY, and Fix this year is quicker and more athletic than Garrett. Garrett's strength didn't help him get taken feet-to-back by Arujau.

I don't like making predictions, especially about the future, but this version of Garrett doesn't beat that version of Arujau.

Have to admit, Vito has got it going on right now.

Garrett is trouble when he wrestles with confidence, but I'm not sure he can match Vito's gas tank. Maybe I'm mis-reading that. Nahshon has the look of a guy who is hot....Vito has the look of a guy who's going to the Olympics.

He is a resident athlete in an RTC with "Lehigh" in its name.

Arujau has great technique. That's for sure. But I don't see him as quicker and more athletic than Garrett, as NM asserts. We shall see.

Did you watch Arujau beat Garrett 9-2 at the US Open? Did you watch Vito out-quick Roman Bravo-Young, until that point considered one of the quickest guys in the NCAA (https://youtu.be/ZmcHmYpnhqA)? Did you watch Vito major Daton Fix in the NCAA semis (https://youtu.be/n94VdjYCrVw)?
