Works in progress.
Griffin emerging as the guy at 149 (looks like Repos stays in red shirt) -- The Maine Mauler has a lot of Josh Humphreys in him in the top position. Brutal. There are maybe, 5-6 guys in the country who choose top. Gotta love it we have one of those guys. They will teach him to score from neutral, hopefully sooner than later. When that happens, look out.
Logan still ranked top 30 even with dropping several in a row, but all to higher ranked guys. He has struggled getting into his offense against the better guys. When he does, things will turn around for him. Looks like he is trying to ride on top instead of just cutting the guy.
Herceg will be undersized at 174, but not by much. He is a beast. It looks to my eye like he is moving much, much better. At 165, he had heavy feet (IMO) -- he looked electric up at 174. Baker was a credible opponent and he handled him. Let's not get wrapped up calling Baker a 165. He was plenty big and someone said he gave Mekhi Lewis a good go. A solid win for Herceg. Not favored in either bout this weekend but interested to see him fight. Don't go to sleep on this guy.
Wilt is a developing talent. You can't teach heart and Jack Wilt has it. Needs a little more horsepower to compete at the upper levels but the 'will' is there. IMO, a good decision to start this guy.
Posting this to remind folks this group is special. They are coming together and it's a beautiful thing to watch. We needed everyone on Saturday -- don't forget that -- "everyone counts, or nobody counts."
Who said that? I think it was Harry Bosch.

Re: 149, 165, 174, 184
First off huge Harry Bosch fan, both streaming and novels......
Agree with all of the above except Logan, yes he's wrestled good guys but I see a lot of HEW in him also.....I don't know, we'll see as year moves on......
Actually to be honest don't agree with Baker assessment either, he is a small 174, has the frame but looks way too skinny for 174....he's wrestlestat #87 for a reason.....he's only there because Cornell really has no one else to use at 174.....I'm still surprised they didn't find a way to get Ruiz off greyshirt and on to the mat, he pinned Baker in a open this year....

Points taken.
Re: 149, 165, 174, 184
Baker was at 165 last year and at 157 a lot the two seasons before that; I figure he's moved up to 174 because that's where Cornell saw a hole in the lineup. Herceg has actually wrestled a fair amount at 174 -- five times each in 2021 and 2022, 165 all last year. Maybe he didn't care to cut weight for opens, but 165 appears to be his best weight.Oracle wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 10:16 am
