That was just year-long B1G bias.

The Maine Man Griffin on deck next on 5.
Hines' path on the backside of the bracket looks good through the R12. The likely R2 loser is the #21, and the potential quarter-finalists that would drop into his path are the #15, #23, and #26. That assumes Bartlett runs to the SF.
I was thinking the same thing of 141, 149,157. Hines has a path he can beat people. Max has Lamer (Michigan/Cal Poly) in his first consolation bout. It is a tough one and winnable. After that, a winnable, then it gets tough with either a Big 10 or Big 12 wrestler. Will have to score early and then shut people down.

Griffin has a tough way back. Will have to go big for the pin. Logan has a shot. Just has to go for scoring and get ahead in 1st.

Was hoping we could get 8 points from 4 wrestlers out of consolation. We shall see.

Taylor looks a bit sluggish.

Agree, re: Smith!

Nathan wins - taken down, quick reversal and backs, ridden out in second period, then TD and 2 backs in 3rd. Yes, he looked a little sluggish.

Hope he’s just getting warmed up, though Tinker is tall and his style is unusual for a HWT. Looks like he;lol probably ace Doucet next. He’s up 3-0 over Pitzer

sigh of relief.....some close-"ish" matches that had me a little nervous.

Took Luke about half the match to get it going - but turned it on w/ a couple TDs and some NF in the back half of the match. Quick turnaround after weigh-ins, maybe was feeling it a bit

Crook's match was nerve-racking. Getting dinged for stalling in the first 2mins; kid escapes in the 2nd pd within 10secs?! a couple close calls where he almost gave up TDs and seemingly stifled from an offensive perspective. I too like the rest of you thought the special rules for the American wrestler was a HUGE advantage with Ryan preferring to work from space. And many of you called that out prior to today, but I was very surprised how much of an advantage!! Teske is tough but think Ryan comes out on fire tonight after session 1 and puts up a solid W.

Beard is Beard! God damn is he fun to watch, how effortless. I still have in the back of my mind last year's "gassing" or whatever we want to call it in March, but it seems to be a thing of the past.

After Beard's thought we'd have another relaxing win w/ Nate. Didn't think he'd give up the first TD, then get ridden the entire 2nd which included being locked in a cradle for 1min (although he was never really close to going over).

At the end of it all, session 1 was pretty much chalk for LU.
