Overall, it seemed to me that LU's first round performance was meh.

Only Beard was impressive. Stanich didn't look good for most of his bout against a near bottom dweller. Crookham eked out a win against another near bottom dweller. Taylor for most of his bout looked like last season's Taylor where he couldn't deal with smaller, more athletic heavies and couldn't get out from the bottom. Logan got crunched by the bottom seed and none of the other three distinguished themselves.

Jaxon Smiths bout proved he was tougher than Hidlry which is why Sloan was seeded ahead of Beard.

With respect to Taylor, We’ll just agree to disagree. He had the size and strength advantage on his opponent but was ridden out for a full two mins. It was not, imo, one of his better matches and he needs his A game to keep advancing .

Hopefully it was just first round jitters and not something bad in the team meal or water bucket. Here's to hoping for a hard hitting second round!

WTH happened in Malykes match?? Looked like he had the takedown and was riding, but they gave 1 point to the Columbia kid??
