Sometimes we forget what it's like to be a 16 or 17 yo teenager. I have no real idea what has motivated PJ to decommit but I suspect it goes somewhere along these lines..
PJ just won his 1st NJ State Championship as a sophomore at 220#. Being from NJ, he is fully aware of Lehigh's reputation both academically and on the wrestling front. He envisions himself as a college HWT and perhaps Zach Rey is one of his idols. They may even have worked out together at a camp or something at one point. He commits early.
Like with all 17 yr old kids, things change. The World Team Trials and Pan Am gold gives him a new sense of self-worth. Bigger suitors with more to offer financially come knocking on his door causing a further re-evaluation.
Being a perfect tweener compounds things even more. He is no longer sure that HWT is his college calling. He has come within striking distance of 197#. That's an entirely different style of wrestling. Finally he decides that he may have committed too early. It happens. I would have loved to see him in Brown and White. Lehigh has an incredible amount to offer in terms of not only wrestling development but also personal development. The big picture becomes blurred. I wish him well wherever he ends up except for matches against Lehigh.
