But you didn't answer my question. Fact is, my post addressed the matter of the competitiveness of the team. Had nothing to do with individual resumes v accomplishments.

Gregory S. Surenian was Armenian. The 'S' stands for Suren, which was his nickname.

Dropped out after beating Tom Sculley in wrestle-off for 134 in fall of 1971 (his junior year and Sculley's soph year) -- he didn't want to cut back to 126. Not made public, byt I always suspected Thad had other ideas and Suren thought it best to move on.

He ended up at Boston University where he majored in Theater Arts -- wanted to be a director. Saw The Godfather together in 1972 in Brockton, MA.

Below is what you first posted – and it DID refer to recruiting in a thread called RECRUITING
It replied to 2 posters lamenting lack of state champs
My post proved that non-state champs can win BIG in Div I if given the chance

We can't expect it. Can't compete with the big boys or even the upper medium size boys in recruiting. Will be a second tier (11-20) team unless there's a major positive change.

Noted. Coach Leeman, Turner, Strobel could develop wrestlers. I concur. PA, CA, NJ, MN, IA, OK 3rd/4th should not be overlooked. They might need 2-3 years of development. Prep school. Military for 2 years. Backup at college level for 2 years. Not all 16-19 year old physically develop at the same rate. Then throw in the mental part.
The same was true for surgical residents. Some were not so great their first year, but by 4th year, many surpassed those who you thought were elites in year 1.

PIAA District 11 3rd Placers have been quite impressive.
Jordan Burroughs won NJ as a senior.
Burroughs freshman year at Nebraska was 16 wins and 13 losses. Two years later an NCAA Champion.
Did OK after college.

Our own Darryl Burley did not hit the top of the podium until his senior year in NJ. The explodes as true freshman at Lehigh.

Yes it would be nice to land the Kyle Dake and Spencer Lee and list goes on. We landed David Craig. He had a solid career. You just never know.

If Pat continues to land, PA, NJ, OH 1st-4ths and 1st/2nd from other states, I am sure he will find a few All Americans.

This team is very good this year. Our guys will move up the rankings once there starts to be more wrestling.

PA season is underway and 4 champs were crowned.

Repos (145) @ Solanco Mule Classic
Sadriddinov (160) @ Cumberland Valley Kickoff Classic
Dubler (172) @ Inter County Conference Tournament
Gonzalez (160) @ Lebanon County Tournament

I think NJ starts in 2 weeks?

The name "Dubler" calls to mind Conrad Dobler, "The Dirtiest Player in the NFL". Remember him?

Yes, he was a Buffalo Bill for part of his career, although his famous days were with the Cardinals......loved the leg whip.....according to Wikipedia (so it must be true), Dobler has had 9 knee replacement surgeries.....

I think he was also known to sink his teeth into opposing players at opportune times.

>>> Coach Leeman, Turner, Strobel could develop wrestlers.

Best to add Santoro, who developed Hamlin from VT scratch (0-2 1st ncaa r-fr); also Cruz' stunning upsets of Gilman + finals; Rey went Rd12 to ncaa 3,1,2 and as asst trained personally with Bernholz, Esposito, Ayres, Doto, Vitale, Dufresne, Van Doren all A/A after tot of 2 hs 1sts. Add Kennedy, Hatchett, Wessell as surprise A/A; medals incl 1,1,2,2,2,2,3 among others. Nate Brown was also a surprise 2nd. Half of these as head; half as asst.
