New FB Coach - short list?

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

What makes you so enthusiastic about the hire?
It appears he has no head coaching experience.

My son plays there. He is a bright guy, very creative, a terrific listener, persistent recruiter, organized and innovative. They are very disappointed to lose him and Lehigh is exceptionally lucky to have him turn around this program

Prior HC experience is not a necessary prerequisite. Indeed, Lehigh's most successful HC's in the past 60 - 70 years had no head coaching experience (Dunlap, Whitehead, Higgins, Lembo, Coen). While it can be nice to point to being an HC, there are other ways to show one is organized and had the necessary management skills to head a D1 college football program.

Admit a bit let down by who we didn't choose not by Coach Cahill. My preferences aside, the more I hear about him from Yale people and other coaches, there is a real shot here for our program

In reading coach Cahill's bio at the Patriot League site they say he came to Yale as special teams coach in 2012. In 2014 more responsibility and the title of Assistant Head Coach. To me that means more money to keep him. Then in 2018 title changed to Associate Head Coach. Meaning more $$$ and really want to keep him. Obviously there are no sure things. But with all of the above and the recent continued success of the Yale program, I'm thrilled.

I think that's enough said on that topic.

Not sure who the other options were, but looking forward to seeing what Cahill can do. Seems like a good hire.
Now just have to work on his support staff.

I am sure with his connections established over the years, he has several people in mind. He also would plan to keep a few from the existing staff who would provide a good bridge and familiarity to the players. I was impressed, today, with his enthusiastic references to the good things he has seen about Lehigh over the past many years he has been on the other sideline, and would like to bring back. Recruiting will be the priority, now, by reaching out to some in the portal, as well as the top prospects currently being cultivated.
